Wii Disc Error Repair Guide! – Update
April 9, 2008, 8:37 pm

Took Nintendo around three days to receive and reship my repaired Wii. The invoice inside the package said components had been repaired/replaced. However it did not fix the fact that all the third party games for the Wii suck really bad. So I traded it in and bought a PS3.

Biodiesel.. Simple Solution.

While maybe not a long term solution, and might not end up being much better for our planet. Its a start.
bacteria2.jpg

“J.C. Bell, an agricultural researcher and CEO of Bell Bio-Energy, Inc., says he’s isolated and modified specific bacteria that will, on a very large scale, naturally change plant material – including the leftovers from food – into hydrocarbons to fuel cars and trucks.”

Link
I have a strong feeling that the United States is currently intensively seeking new fuel resources. To publicize such information might cause our current oil suppliers to strike the price down dramatically and cause our attention to shift to other issues, only to reap the price back up. I would love to see such solutions like the one above to work, throw a name at me that can make this happen and I’ll vote.

A vagabond is a (generally impoverished) itinerant person. Such people may be called tramps, rogues, or hobos. A vagabond is characterized by traveling, lacking a fixed home, abode, or residence. Vagabonds are not bums, as bums are not known for traveling.

Wii Disc Error Repair Guide!

I have setup this page to detail my journey on getting my new Nintendo Wii repaired. I just happen to be part of the “very small percentage” of wii consoles suffering from a hardware problem.

“The Game Disc could not be read. Please read the Wii operations Manual for more information.”

SSBB Error

This relentless error message will occur randomly while playing the new Super Smash Bros. Brawl game from Nintendo. Nintendo of America has announced that those suffering from the problem, which is most likely due to a dirty lens inside the machine, will be able to send their consoles in to be cleaned, and has set up a web page detailing the specifics of the situation.

“Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilizes a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive.”

I hope this article will help you get your Wii fixed and get it back in a speeder fashion! I will also be reporting the time and solution taken to repair my Wii.

Repair Instructions:

First report the problem with Nintendo and fill out this form Wii Repair Form

– I lacked a printer so i opted to have my shipping label, well shipped to me.
Received my UPS shipping label in exactly two days time.

With the label I received shipping instructions on how to ship my Wii back to be repaired. They will explain shipping container, drop off location etc..

” Because of the nature of this issue, you must send in your Wii Console in addition to your Super Smash Bros. Brawl disc. Please ensure the disc is NOT inside the system. Place your Super Smash Bros. Brawl disc in the game disc case it came in as this will protect the game during shipping.”

I was curious as to why Nintendo needs your Brawls disc?

I’ll update this page with info on how my repair went, currently have not shipped the Wii.

(

Well my Wii has been shipped
I got some bubble wrap from work, cause I went to Target and they wanted to charge me about four dollars down here in the south. Which I thought was pretty sad. I have been pondering the thought that if bubble wrap is such an expensive commodity that itself should be wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure that none of its bubbles are popped.

Anyway I called UPS to have them pick it up, and they were more than willing to do so. They even offered to have a local driving come that day to pick the box up. Nintendo had sent me a free of charge 2nd DAY AIR prepaid return label. So everything so far has been great service.

– Salvatore

Some other readers feedback on the issue!

I sent mine in this weekend. It was just received today (Didn’t ship until Monday). I’m in New England, yet my Wii went to Redmond, WA. After doing a little research on the Nintendo site, I found out that there is a New York (as well as a California) repair location for the US. WTF? If it went to NY, I’d have it by tomorrow (Friday), instead I’ll be waiting for this “expedited” repair process. *NATCH*

Japanese arcade distributor Atlus Co will be recalling 150 arm-wrestling machines that are breaking players’ arms.008-ph.jpg Sad because this honestly seems like a pretty attractive game. However under the gorgeous arcade frame and rubber arm. Hides a possibly malfunctioned body twister. This game should simply have a “No nubs/ Not for the weak” warning on it. I could easily see somebody making it their vendetta to get revenge on the machine that broke their arm. ” One day Arm Spirit, I’ll have my revenge! Arrrrgggghhh!”

Anyway. Its sad to see the entire line of machines recalled. Thanks Atlus Co for atleast thinking outside the box.

Wave Pool Tokyo Style

While I knew Tokyo was known for its overcrowding and close quarter living, this is just mind blowing. The video below shows Tokyo’s Summer Land wave pool almost overflowing from the number of people occupying it. Honestly I can barley see the pool itself. Better yet.. Its a wave pool.

I recently went to Orlando Florida’s Wet ‘n Wild which also features a wave pool. These pools can be as deep as 8-12ft in depth at the deepest point and have very thick waves that can also crest. I couldn’t imagine having this many people in the pool with me.. Just wow. I’m interested in knowing if anybody gets hurt with this many people.

Big Bill

The massive hog which was reported to have been wild across the Internet has been confirmed as the domestically grown beast called Fred.

Domestic hogs are real monsters compared to any known wild hog. Big Bill in the picture above was reported close to 9 feet and 2552 pounds. Which dwarfs the Jamison’s hog that was also grown on a farm.

Basically what happened was a domestic pig was sold to a hunting preserve. The Jamison’s killed the pig. Now the Jamison’s never really claimed they had killed the largest feral hog.

New Nessie caught on tape! Doubt it.
June 1, 2007, 2:49 am
Filed under: Lake Monster, Lock Ness, Nessie

First off heres the video. This is new footage of what some think is Nessie.

Now I’m pretty open minded and think this world we live in is crazy weird. I have taken some pretty intense biology courses, seen and read about some wild things. Not hard to imagine that exotic undiscovered creatures still exist. Only recently was a genetically different species of sea creature found dead that is accepted as the fabled giant squid. Rarely can our eyes pierce the deepest darkness part of our oceans, imagine what swims at the bottom of them. Lock Ness is 754 feet at its deepest point. Thats incredibly deep, even deeper than the North Sea.

I’m not convinced by the new video. Honestly I don’t know the dynamics of water wakes and the mass it takes to create what wakes etc. I really don’t think this video shows anything at all. Really I think this is hyped to boast tourism in the area.

However a hunter killed and buried a hog near this size and was confirmed when National Geographic experts unearthed remains that weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long in East Georgia not too long ago.

Teen Who Booby-Trapped Pens Given 9 Years In Pen

(AP) POMONA, Calif. A Rosemead teen who left exploding pens at schools that injured three people was sentenced Friday to nine
years and eight months in state prison.

Brian Rocha, 19, pleaded guilty in September to nine felony counts, including three counts of explosion of a
destructive device causing bodily injury.

A student and two adults who found the pens at Rosemead and El Monte High schools over a four-month period in 2005 suffered minor injuries from the devices.

Prosecutors say Rocha booby-trapped pens to detonate when uncapped as revenge for being expelled from Rosemead High School.

Rocha was 17 at the time of his arrest but a judge ruled he should be tried as an adult.

Are Forcefields already reality?
May 20, 2007, 7:39 am

Next to IEDs, RPGs are tanks biggest threat on the modern battlefield. This new system called Trophy will be a godsend.

Developed by various defense companies, the Trophy system is basically an active forcefield around a tank or an armored vehicle to defend against RPG rounds. It’s not an actual forcefield like the USS Enterprise, it’s a system that detects when a round is incoming and shoots out a projectile to eliminate the threat. Best of all, there’s only a 1% chance of injuring surrounding personnel when the round is exploded. – Jason Chen

UPDATE

Resistance from the US – Wiki

MSNBC has reported that there is resistance to incorporating TROPHY in the US Army. The U.S. Department of Defense has contracted with Raytheon to develop an equivalent system, which will not be ready before 2011 at the earliest (but now declines to say whether it still is on course to meet that deadline), whereas TROPHY could be deployed much sooner. According to MSNBC’s sources, the reason for not adopting TROPHY for now is that it would remove the need for the Raytheon program, causing it to be canceled.
